Paddington 2 est déconseillé aux moins de 8 ans au Royaume-Uni pour son langage grossier, ses séquences angoissantes et parfois violentes !

On se souvient de l'indignation de Michael Bond, le créateur du célèbre ours anglais de la littérature enfantine, après la classification PG (Parental Guidance) accolée au film Paddington (Paul King, 2014) en novembre 2014, autrement dit le British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) avait jugé que le film est susceptible de perturber des enfants de moins de 8 ans le laissant de ce fait à l'appréciation des parents.

Pour la sortie en salles du second opus programmé le 12 mars 2018, le BBFC a également décidé de le classer PG en raison de scènes jugées angoissantes ou légèrement violentes dont une séquence durant laquelle Paddington utilise une brosse à dents électrique pour nettoyer ses oreilles et ses narines...

Voici la motivation complète du Bureau de classification britannique :

« There are scenes in which Paddington is rescued from drowning, first as a cub as he floats on a log heading for rapids, and then when he is trapped in a train carriage that has fallen into a river. Although there is some tension and a sense of danger in both scenes, this is quite brief and the outcome is reassuring. There are also scenes of comic threat, played as slapstick, with characters attempting to cross from one moving train to another or making escapes along the top of trains, and Paddington facing the displeasure of prison inmates. The outcomes are all, once again, reassuring and no-one comes to any harm. There is a scene in which a story is being told of a trapeze artist who fell to her doom after her equipment is sabotaged. The scene is very brief and without details of injury. There is also very mild slapstick violence with fairground props, including floppy swords and a gun that fires plastic darts, being used as ineffectual weapons. There is also a comic scene in which Paddington uses a pair of electric toothbrushes to clean his ears, nostrils and teeth. There is infrequent use of very mild bad language such as 'bottoms' and 'oh my God'. »
